Almost forgot to mention, the DOA CD is coming out in December! Pre-orders are being accepted now. Visit the Dean Owners of America forum at Dean Guitars for more information. Here's the link: http://www.deanguitars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28504

Monday, December 04, 2006: New Old Stock

Hey hey! Getting closer to finishing my new album, New Old Stock. Trouble is, I have 14 songs, which might be too many for a CD. Hmm. Maybe I'll split the songs into 2 CDs. What to call the second CD? New Old Stock 2? Old New Stock?

After that stuff is done, gonna work with guitar fiend Wayde Cooper, www.waydecooper.com on some tracks from our days in the band AXIS. That should be fun. We'll be finishing up some songs that were started in about 1991.

Drum tracks were recorded at Triad Studios in Seattle, played by David Beardsley. Right after we'd finished recording the drums, the band fell apart. So the 24track tapes sat on the shelf, until now :) One problem is, we can't find Nick Valenz, the vocalist from AXIS. Nick, if you read this, please email us.

      Well, back to work....

Thursday, July 20, 2006: Dean DOA 2006 CD and other randomnessity

Finishing up song for DOA 206 compilation CD. The song is called "Clearwater Road Trip". The name is inspired by the (former) location of Dean headquarters. According to Google Maps, it's 3,174 miles from my house to Dean. Quite a drive.

Was thinking of naming the song "Clearwater Head Trip", but that might imply naughty things. The summer NAMM show was this past weekend. Dean unveiled some killer new guitars, including a 6/12 hardtail doubleneck, a single cut called 'Soltero', and the Dime Razor V.

I immediately wanted the double neck. Will aquire the Soltero too, probably around Christmas.

Can one have too many guitars? No.

Do I play them all? Yes, except my autographed USA Michael Schenker V. It's my one don't-touch-it collector guitar.

I'm shocked to note that my blog has been viewed 36 times (on My Space). Who are these people? As Dr. Evil would say, "The details of my life are quite inconsequential."

Clerks II is coming out tomorrow. I may actually leave the house for this one.

Don't forget to visit www.deanguitars.com to see all the new guitars!!

Thursday, June 29, 2006: Pimping music

Added some pimping for my music. Links to CD Baby, and my record label, Fossil Records. We'll see if it moves product :)

Speaking of Blogs, I must direct you to Jason Becker's My Space page. He's a continuing inspiration for guitarists around the world, and his My Space Blog is the best way to keep updated on happenings in his world.

While I'm meandering, what the heck is up with these bogus My Space friend requests? In case they're reading this, I'm NOT interested in your nudie pay website links. Thanks so much, but I have a wife for that kind of stuff.

Back to music, I'm finishing up a song for the Dean Owners of America annual CD. Haven' got a name for it yet. It's an instrumental, and quite long. Has some Steve Vai vibe going on, and of course some Alex Lifeson. Gotta play those suspended chords, man!

Monday, May 29, 2006: Uploaded songs

Finally uploaded some music. Songs from Inner Resonance - Solar Voices, and songs from JRS - Loss for Words. If you wanna buy, go to CDBaby: http://www.cdbaby.com/all/jrs Does anybody read these?

Thursday, January 12, 2006: Converted to Band

Hmm. First Blog entry. Just converted my account to a band account so I can upload some of my music. Have to remember to post links to http://www.cdbaby.com/all/jrs. Wonder how sales will be impacted? Does anyone read these things? I never read other peoples blogs. Suppose I should look around on MySpace to find other 30-somethings like me that are into progressive rock and shred guitar. Can't imagine I'm the only one. And that's about all I have on my mind today.
